Take one Victorian bottle, one cork and a oil drizzler and you have a washing up liquid bottle pretty enough to leave out on the worktop.
Says on the bottle:

Kitchen Sash Window

Originally uploaded by Bobble

We applied an adhesive decorative film to the bottom sash of our big kitchen window in a graphic dots pattern. It blocks out hardly any of the light or view unless the sun is shining directly on it.

Well M and I got some bad news on Monday. We had to wait to today for it became official but as of 15.00 today it has become official: M has been made redundant.
We moved down to Brighton and bought this flat in part because of his job. Sun, sea, sand and a new fresh [...]

A hole in my bedroom

Today we are getting the main bedroom sash window repaired. At the moment we have a big hole!
To give you some idea of the scale the armoire on the left is 1.85m tall.
Apologies for crappy cameraphone picture – it’s so grey here today.

Oh. My. God.

Tuesday night we had the fireplace man ’round*. We thought we’d replace the old over-painted wooden mantles with stone ones if our budget allowed.
The Fireplace man scratched the surface of the three fireplaces to ascertain what we’d be taking out: wood, rotten wood or some kind of 1950s stone / tile.
And lo, we scratched, and [...]

What we’ve been up to

I’ve never painted furniture before. When I lived in a 1960s flat the words “Shabby Chic” struck fear into my black London heart. Now we’ve gone and done it and painted something.
Our new TV cupboard, formerly the bottom of a Victorian pine dresser we bought on eBay. (Next is the small hanging armoire we bought [...]

Today is the day that no teddy bears are having a picnic – as it is too fucking grey outside* – but the day I am having my electrics done.
I have made a list to discuss with my wonderful Aussie electricans. Look away now if this is boring to you:
