Big pack of stuff

I’m nervous, excited, keen, aprehensive and nervous. Did I say I was nervous?

I got home from work tonight (a mere 57 hours for the bankers this week - no lunch breaks for two weeks now) to find a big fat manilla packet propped up against my front door. My University enrolement documents.

I am bloody stunned at the moment, but it’s an excited stunned.

In a few short weeks my temporary job will seem like history. I have Landscape and documentary photography in my first term along critical theory: ‘photography and contemporary culture’.

Sweet Madonna.

I can also choose a language to study alongside. Shall I opt for advanced Italian, intermediate French or plunge right in there and start Japanese? Considering I lived in Japan for four plus years as a toddler and can’t remember anything bar three words… yep, part of me is leaning towards the shiny happy language of 日本国. How fucking awesome / spectacularly hard would that be?

My reading list states two books to be read before term that I already have *phew* I’d better dust off my copy of ‘ The Photography Reader’ Liz Wells (ed) now.

I can also apply for a whole year or just a semester abroad at one of our exchange universities in the EU, USA, Canada, Australia or Japan (and I’ve never been to Kobe either). Holy moly, the opportunities people!

Student bars and freshers balls, personal tutor allocation and student oyster-cards, timetables and supplies lists (note to self: get a Lupe) I am overcome, but again in a good excited way.

Eeek I am nervous but I’m going to plunge right in.

    Ohyo gozaimasu!

That is so fab! I imagine you could ace Italian, having that slight advantage and what not ;) so Japanese sounds like a really marvellous idea.

Sure you’ll have great fun being a student again, and I hope those bankers are paying you blooming well for all this extra work!

    Peej-san!

Yeah, I’m quite keen on it - except I may end up spending more on Japanese dolly sites if I can translate them ;)

I do get paid by the hour but boy are they getting their moneys’ worth - I am shattered. I am looking forward to Uni so I can a) use my brain again and b) have a rest!

    Ahh, Konbon Wa Bobble!

Think of it this way, you may get better deals if you can understand Japanese. Ok, maybe not, but its good to reason like that.

Not long now till you get to Uni, I hope you can have a little bit of rest inbetween too, you work too much!
