Since you're 'between jobs' at the moment, perhaps you could try doing work experience at a commercial photographers. When I worked in PR we used various photographers to do the work for various things, including the Packshot Factory in London, which was great fun (taking Christmas pictures of festively decorated bottles of wine!)
