After some sanding, replacement eyes, hair cutting, freckling and new make-up…
Georgette
Griet
Isotta
All together now.

From Hong Kong Cheapy. I didn’t have to replace the whole eye unit(thankfully) to get a more natural colour just the eye ‘chips’. Much elbow grease and application of hot glue sticks.

I think they’re fab. Fab. I love girly dolls (and still hesitate at the Barbie aisle in supermarkets).
What paint did you use for their faces, you mentioned acrylic, but what type? And did you mix something with it to stop it from drying too auickly/patchily? Intrigued I am. Fab I tell you.

Thank you Solis. If you feel like getting “your dolly on” go here(I’m Bobble there too).
As for paint I tried the expensive (artist quality acrylic) stuff but found cheapy old craft acrylic and some Daler Gel retarder (about half and half so it smoothly pools) worked fine on the lips in several thin coats then any acrylic gloss varnish. No varnish needed for freckles/beauty marks.
Once sanded ground up pastels (Conte) the harder the better work for blush and eyeshadow. The real professionals use spray and do the eyelids too. Pucimadam is the goddess of doll restoration and her site is here

Ms Roachette’s reply made me look at these again, and I still heart them. And now I’m off to look at those links Bobs (yes, I hadn’t seen your reply til now, *sob!*)
I may be some time…
-And don’t think I didn’t notice that their eyes keep changing colour…
(And for some reason I imagine you looking like Georgette).

From Hong Kong Cheapy. I didn’t have to replace the whole eye unit(thankfully) to get a more natural colour just the eye ‘chips’. Much elbow grease and application of hot glue sticks.
