This is just so inexplicable. Why would anyone actually want one?
I blame Sony. First came the Aibo, all well and good. It looked like a dog but was obviously and reassuringly a robot. There was no ambiguity whatsoever.
However, Sega have a new product. The ‘Near Me’.

Not
quite robot, not quite real cat. More like a animatronic zombie
pet. It is as Bubb so accurately puts it from the “uncanny
valley.”
Sega have taken the demonstration video down from the site. It was just too scary.

Oh Pete if you’d seen that video – the horror! She had to smack it on the head as it was so evil.

It sounds truly terrifying. Our real cat scares me enough without having an insane frankenstien cat running around everywhere!

It’s only as creepy as a real cat. I wonder if it brings half dead things into the house?

WOW! i, personally think that is cool! think of all the poor kids who were never allowed cats becasue their poor mum was allergic or something!! yipee, they can now have one! and i’d rather people had these than thought it was a good idea to get a real cat and then abandon it!
although do they cost as much as a small country?

They are about £180 quid / 35,000 Yen I think. Good for allergic types I admit but it is so flipping spooky.

Conclude anus is as realistic as face, but to be confirmed when I get my hands on one.
*Could be great for practical jokes in the street*
