At 5.30 as I was leaving work I got a hankering, a yearning, a want.
I wanted fish and chips. Proper fish and chips served to me by a
portly man – in a white coat and with a side parting – standing proud
behind a gleaming stainless steel ‘bank’ of industrial fryers and ‘hot’
shelving displaying mouth watering servings of fish, PUCCA pies and
battered sausages.
So; proper fish and chips. None of those skinny ‘fries’. I wanted
golden crispy succulent fat chips – the kind that have crispy bits at
the bottom of the bag – hot from an old fashioned chip shop pan of fat.
Ready to be doused in white vinegar and Saxa salt and and served with a
small wooden fork.
The fish would have to be in light yet thick batter, hard on the
outside, yielding and soft inside. Encasing perfectly white and juicy
fish.
So, did I find such an establishment in my Battersea locale? Did I f*ck.

Duh, shame you didn’t. I did last night, home late etc. But hasn’t a large cod got well, large! Mine appeared to be of the GM variety or something was definitely up in the gene pool. You are tormenting yourself with that description..lol

btw, how do you go about getting that creative commons HTML into the title – is that your own HTML webpage..or a blog-builder from 20six?
PS: I have the Cfreative Commons stuff I just visited the site having seen your link.

Easy boys!
Yep, creative commons is good. I put the html link – they send you some html to use by email after you select a license on their site – into my title bar on my blog. I use blog builder – after creating my own portfolio photography website I’m not up to doing it again for my blog! If you need some html to paste let me know.
and yes I am still hungry…

No use to you now hon, but there are some advantages to living in the burbs. Now, shall I have cod, haddock or skate with my freshly cooked fat succulent chips?

I grew up just over the Battersea bridge (Chelsmore estate to be exact, y’know the one, used to have nearly dead people hanging over the railings in a bizzarre, fleshy, hanging gardens type look. Well, maybe you dont.) Anyway, years ago there was a great fish and chip shop in the Ebury area. Dont think its there anymore though.

The bloke doesn’t quite look like that, but the food does – at ‘Fischcoteque’ (yes, really) behind Waterloo Station. All the cab drivers go there.
Yum yum.
